Belly acupressure can help you to conceive

It is truly beautiful to observe pregnant women loving and appreciating their growing bellies. The journey to conceiving and giving birth is indeed a miracle of life and yet a natural process that every woman is capable of experiencing

The abdomen or hara is the centre of meridian system and it is the source of life, therefore health and disease has its roots in here. An effective way to improve your chances to conceive is to massage your abdomen everyday, to increase blood circulation to the internal organs, specially uterus and ovaries.

According to scientific researches, prolonged stress can lead to imbalances in the ANS which may alter the release of hormones responsible for regulating the maturation and release of the oocyte.  The autonomic nerve system (ANS) controls the contraction of the uterus and fallopian tubes and  improves  the ovary’s ability to produce healthy eggs and hormones.

Pressure applied around the vertebrae can stimulate the autonomic nervous system and minimize the harmful effects of a prolonged body’s response to stress. Stimulation on the sacrum area is also an effective way to improve the blood flow to the uterus and other internal organs.

Traditional Chinese Medicine  (TCM ), believes that the stagnation of Qi causes blockages in the pelvis leading to symptoms such as painful menstrual cramps, endometriosis and constipation problems. Later on it affects different parts of the reproductive cycle such as production of the egg, fertilization of the egg, and implantation of the fertilized egg in the uterus.  
The key is to keep the belly healthy with proper massage and stimulation, proper nutrition and relaxed mind.

A healthy belly has the skin smooth and even in consistency. The abdomen wall is soft and resilient like rubber ball, when you apply pressure it comes back in naturally and it has no indurations, tenderness or strong pulsation.

When you start to massage your belly, look for signs of imbalances that may manifest in the form of discomfort, tenderness or weakness.
Massaging the belly everyday helps to increase blood flow to the reproductive organs, improves the function of your adrenal glands, improve Qi energy to your brain  as well as to your heart and sexual centre. If you are planning to conceive it is very important to massage your belly religiously every day.

How to apply acupressure in your belly

When you begin practicing acupressure, apply pressure for one to three minutes and gradually work up to holding points longer. Too much stimulation on a point may result in headache or nausea. 
Use the ball of the thumb, the soft part, than keep applying pressure until you feel you reached the bottom of the point. It usually happens when you feel tenderness .  
When applying pressure in the belly use the four fingers of both hands together and apply continues pressure until you reach the bottom of the point.

Best time to massage is in the morning before you get up and after shower. Use a good massage oil with hormonal properties on it such as clary sage, fennel, myrtle and rose geranium essential oils.

  • Begin by brushing your skin dry with a dry skin brush.
massage your belly clockwise direction and anticlockwise direction.
Move the brush towards your chest, top of shoulders and inner thighs to stimulate the Spleen, Liver and Kidney meridians.
  • Take your shower  than continue applying pressure with four fingers of both hands.
  • Begin just below the sternum, move to the stomach area than proceed clockwise direction looking for tender spots. When you find it, apply pressure and hold for 2 breaths.
  • Continue in circular movement making sure to cover the whole area of your belly
Focus your pressure on  tender points located at the stomach, beside belly bottom and below belly bottom in the centre line.

Tips for Fertility

Follow your intuition, become the woman that you are opening yourselves up about being a woman and being in our feminine bodies. Because when we come to know our true self and live from our authentic self we put ourselves in a wonderful place, we live with joy, enthusiasm and we can move onto receiving our child.

Castor oil is the unsaturated fatty acid that has been used to dissolve ovarian cysts for a long time, keeping your ovaries healthy and full of vitality.

Do not use a castor oil pack during pregnancy, or menstruation.

Supplies needed:

•    1-pint cold pressed castor oil
•    1-10”X14” wool flannel cloth, (or cotton flannel if you are allergic to wool) that has been pre-washed before use. Let dry naturally and fold several times to make a large flat pad
•    1 box Saran wrap
•    1 very large bath towel
•    Several safety pins
•    1 old shower curtain or plastic table clothe to protect your bed from the oil
•    Several old towels that may be stained with oil
•    1 box baking soda
•    Gallon zip lock bag to store the cloth in after you are finished (refrigerate the cloth)
•    heating pad

How to make a castor oil pack

1.    Turn the heating pad on medium heat setting.
2.    Take 4 ounces of the oil and place it in a small glass container and sit it down in a small pot of hot water, or in a sink to warm the oil.
3.    Cover the bed with plastic shower curtain or plastic tablecloth.
4.    Lay out a sheet of Saran wrap and place the folded cloth on top of it. Saturate the cloth with the oil and place the warm oil side on the right side of the body and wrap the body with the large towel to hold in place.
5.    Lie down and put the heating pad on the covered oil soaked cloth for 1-2 hours.
6.    You may increase the heat as needed, but do not fall asleep.
7.    Afterward, put the oilcloth in the Ziploc bag and store it in the refrigerator.
8.    Repeat the procedure no more than three times per week. Baking soda removes the excess oil from your skin.
9.    You may see a chocolate brown discharge from an old cyst that has been discharge, a whitish discharge, or blood tinged discharge from the vagina. These events can occur several days or even weeks after these hot oil packs.
10.    See your doctor if you experience fever, heightened pain, or any adverse change in your condition. Trust your instincts and good judgment.


How Diet Affects the Functioning of Neurotransmitters

The neurotransmitters are biochemical messengers that pass information from a neuron to another cell. They define our moods, actions, and overall health.

According to Otto Loewi, an austrian scientist who discovered the first neurotransmitter, he stated that they are brain chemicals that controls everything from our mood and disposition to how tired or awake we feel, they “control” our entire brain and body chemistry.
People in general, under mental and emotional stress are constantly sending these false messages to their bodies and becoming imbalanced

According to Dr. Gabriel Cousin, in his book “Conscious Eating” Toxins from food also inhibit the production and release of neurotransmitters in the brain causing various mood disorders.
The more you eat, more you suppress the emotions and the release of “feel good“ neurotransmitters.
When people fast and they clear out toxins in the system, the negative emotions are also free and released from the body.

Eating the right food and exercising benefit your hormones.
To create good endorphin  we need to include meditation, regular yoga, breathing exercises and about 1 hour of moderate aerobic exercise like fast walk and dance. Although the most important for healthy brains cells is good diet.

If a diet is deficient in certain amino acids and fatty acids which are used to make the new brain proteins and fats,  the brain will not be able to produce some neurotransmitters. Without the correct amount and balance of particular building blocks, your brain will not work properly.

Eating a deficient diet or overeating the necessary nutrient can also affect the nervous system.

For women trying to conceive and for women that are already pregnant it is recommended to include rich mineral foods in the early stage for proper formation of baby’s nervous system.

Food Can Influence your Ability to Conceive

Can what you eat affect your ability to conceive?

The answer is yes!

“Food and love are inseparable pairs” Food comes in many shapes and colors, different taste and nature. Food can bring you joy and refresh your memories. It is also said that food in in the shape or sexual organs are known to stimulate fertility.

Food affect your ability to conceive and your ability to stay healthy and fertile. You can boost your chances of conceiving and of having a healthy baby  if you eat a healthy and balanced diet.

It is also important to understand your biological rhythm and your constitution, and choose foods that are good for you. We need to be educated on all the healthy choices available to us so we can leave our lives fully.

One of the major problem women have these days is the ability to know  their body type as well as to understand their menstrual cycles and when they are ovulating.

Knowing your body type is essential to understanding yourself and knowing about when you are ovulating means knowing when you are fertile.

Women are often physically, mentally and emotionally depleted with constrained energy in their bodies. This stagnant energy or Qi creates blockages in their pelvis creating conditions such as irregular and painful period or polycystic ovaries.

All these factors create stress and disruption of their natural biological rhythms.

Why are some of us women so depleted in energy?

Because of our nurturing, nourishing and carrying nature. we are naturally givers but we forget to give to ourselves, therefore we become poor receivers. Not only poor receivers of emotional nourishment but poor receivers of love and food. Mental stress also plays a big roll on women’s fertility.

There is an increased number of women in the workforce although it can be very positive experience, the amount of pressure required of so many women is causing a great deal of stress which in result weakens their reproductive system.

One of the most affected area is the diet.  Very often I hear  women asking me: “What kind of food is good for me”? “I don’t have time to cook”, or “where can I find nutritious food”?

Few steps you can take to balance your diet

Very simple, educate yourself on your diet Find out what kind of food  is the best for you. Buy locally grown, organic food.

Than start creating a list of super foods that you like, super snacks that you can have when you rushing between appointments, or even learn simple easy to make recipes that will help you on those busy days.

We also need to learn about our bodies, our menstrual period and most importantly how to recognize our ovulation signs not only to conceive but also to keep us in control of our cycles.
What you really need to know about your ovulation signs is to recognize signals your body is giving you every month.

Start by observing your cervical fluid. Before ovulation its consistency is tacky,  than it becomes moist, changing to creamy white and lastly egg-white, which is the perfect environment for sperms to swim and to live for up to 5 days. Moist sensation at the vulva 10 days after the period initiates the fertile days.

Than observe your body temperature. It is cooler before ovulation and warmer after ovulation due to the action of hormones. Remember to check it everyday and keep a temperature chart on your bedside table.

but are also well known for regulating the production of cervical mucus, ovulation as well as  healthy hormones.

Fertility foods

– Onions, Figs and oysters are known to stimulate fertility. They are rich in minerals such as calcium and magnesium which will help to strengthen your blood.
– Olive oil, Avocado is another good vegetable source of saturated fats which are essential for healthy hormone functioning.
Nuts, seeds, flax seed oil and hempseed oil are all powerful antioxidants.

Shiatsu for Fertility and Pregnancy

Shiatsu therapy naturally relieves discomforts during pregnancy, specially if “moms to be”  are experiencing pre-existing discomforts such as lumbar pain, mental stress, shoulder tension or headache.
